On Sunday 7th June, 2015, the First Communion Mass will be celebrated at 1pm. We congratulate all our children who, with their families, will celebrate full communion in Christ with the Church. Last year, families responded well to appeals for a reverent attitude in Church and thanks once more to them.
This year we re-iterate that this is an important moment for the children and the parish and is a religious service, and so again we ask that if immediate families of the first communicants think that there are relatives and friends who might be uncomfortable in the Church, then we request that they think of inviting them to the family celebration afterwards rather than the Mass.
We would of course like to welcome everyone to the church but we live in the real world and acknowledge that there are many in our society who do feel nervous in a church setting or who are just not used to it and that may make them behave in a manner in which they would not normally do to the detriment of the celebration.
